Commercial Counselor Liu Yi gives welcome remarks On the Discover Global Markets-Greater China Business Forum

Commercial Counselor Liu Yi gave welcome remarks, on behalf ofthe Consulate General of China in New York, along withCongresswoman CarolynMaloney, Deputy Under Secretary for International Trade Kenneth Hyatt of USDepartment of Commerce, on the DISCOVER GLOBAL MARKETS-Greater China BusinessForum 2014 held by US Commercial Service on Tuesday, October 7, 2014.



Witnessing the 35th anniversary of China-US diplomatic relations,Counselor Liu Yi believed inher remark that the newmodel of major-countryrelationship featuring no conflicts or confrontation, mutual respect andwin-win cooperation will blaze a new trail of collaboration of the twocountries. In 2013, bilateral trade reached a record 521 billion dollars and the US exportsto China amountedto 122 billion dollars. The first half of this year also sees a 4.8% increasein bilateral trade and a 12.8% growth of Chinese outbound investment to US. Hugeimpetus willbe created by deepeningreform and further opening up of China that enable business to expandmarket access,foster a better business environment,encourage fair competition and stabilize market expectations. Counselor Liu Yi appreciatedthe platform organizedby US Commercial Service and welcome companies to sharethe opportunities and dividends of both Chinese and US markets.


The DISCOVER GLOBAL MARKETS: GreaterChina Business Forum is a two-day conference on October 7-8 that providesopportunities for US companies to learn from experts with real-world experiencein Greater China markets. Officials and experts from U.S. Department ofCommerce, U.S. Commercial Service Northeast Region, New York District and U.S.Embassy in Beijing and Consulates General in Shenyang, Shanghai, Chengdu,Guangzhou, New York District Export Council, Economic and Business DevelopmentAgencies of States and companies engaging goods and services trade andinvestment between China and U.S. share their practical and actionable marketintelligence on the worlds fastest-growing major economy, as well as insights andcontacts of accessing trade and investment opportunities in Greater China.


A Chinese delegation dedicating in clean energy, machineries,automobiles and resources, led by Investment Promotion Agency of Ministry ofCommerce of China attended an additional session of the Forum which enabled the participants toexpand their connections between Chinese and U.S agencies and companies.
